Worthy Ground Exchange: Community Journalism and Disaster Recovery
Worthy Ground Exchange is a new monthly conversation series that creates space for deeper dialogue around long-term disaster recovery across Appalachia.
In collaboration with Invest Appalachia, the Central Appalachian Network, and ReImagine Appalachia, this series brings together leaders, organizers, and storytellers from across the region to share insights, lessons learned, and solutions shaping how communities prepare for and recover from disaster.
This first conversation features Crystal Good of Black By God, The West Virginian, who shares reflections on the role of community journalism in disaster recovery. As national media attention fades, local storytellers play a critical role in documenting lived experiences, sharing resources, and helping communities stay informed and connected.
Through this conversation, we explore how storytelling can support recovery, strengthen local ecosystems, and influence how communities are seen and invested in over time.
